Open the email ap, go to settings. There should be a selection for update frequency. Adjustments are in there.

Auto push should sent it as soon as it comes through.

Can try clearing the account (clear data in ap management) and re set it up. Otherwise you will need to get a new email ap tp try to see if it is your data or the ap. You on Gingerbread?

Cleared the account. Set it up again. Still not getting emails automatically- need to manually refresh. I Dont think I have Gingerbread.

If you have not received the update yet, it just started rolling out yesterday. You should see it soon. Hopefully that will help. Try a battery pull as well, clear the cobwebs.

Your problem most likely is you have the data thing turned off, it is a common problem and we all had it here at work.
Add the power widget to your desktop if you haven't already and make sure your second to the right icon is turned on. It looks like a circle with 2 arrows in it.
That checks your email etc .
